American Black Journal

Bill Allesee began his professional video editing career in 1986, back when editing was done on tape machines and required sending video to clients on VHS. For Allesee, editing is both a classroom and a playground. Every day it brings new challenges whether in software, workflows or collaborations with clients and co-workers.

Since 2019, Allesee has been a full-time video editor at Detroit PBS, contributing to national productions, promotions and local shows such as “American Black Journal” and “Great Lakes Now.” Throughout his career, he has earned multiple awards from the Detroit Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Michigan Emmys, reflecting his dedication to the craft.

With decades of experience and a passion that hasn’t dimmed, Allesee still enjoys going to work every day and embracing the thrill of creating television. When he is not making TV, he is making music as the lead guitar player in the band Jack’s Revenge.
