Elisha Anderson joined Detroit PBS as managing editor of journalism in 2023. She oversees journalism operations, works closely with the teams producing “One Detroit” and “American Black Journal” and fosters news and community partnerships.
Before joining the station, Anderson spent 16 years at the Detroit Free Press in various roles, including investigative reporter, court reporter and broadcast editor. She also worked at TV stations in Iowa — WHO in Des Moines and KWWL in Waterloo.
Over her career, Anderson has covered many high-profile cases such as the Oxford High School shooting, Grosse Pointe Park businessman Bob Bashara’s murder trial, scandals surrounding former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the Flint water crisis. Her stories have appeared in publications across the country, exposed flaws in the criminal justice system and contributed to innocent men being freed from prison.
Anderson’s work has been honored with dozens of awards, including the Jim Dwyer Award for Journalism for wrongful conviction coverage, Wade McCree Advancement of Justice Awards, the First Amendment Award from Michigan Associated Press Media Editors and Emmys.
