American Black Journal – Michigan Opera Theatre/ The Complete Muhammad Ali

On the next American Black Journal: Stephen talks with the Michigan Opera Theatre’s new Artist-in-Residence, ​​​​​Davóne Tines, an African American singer who is earning acclaim in the field of classical music. Tines talks about finding his way as an African American in the opera industry and his starring role in the upcoming opera about Malcolm X. 

Plus, this year marks the 5th anniversary of the death of boxing great Muhammad Ali. We’ll have a portion of Stephen’s PBS Books’ conversation with author Ishmael Reed about his book, “The Complete Muhammad Ali,” which offers a unique perspective on the life and legacy of the athlete and activist.
