American Black Journal – Roundtable Discussion on Chauvin Sentencing, Detroit Flooding and Mayor Duggan’s Engagement

On the next American Black Journal, Stephen leads a wide-ranging discussion with our roundtable guests. They debate the 22.5-year prison sentence handed down to former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd. Was it enough time or too much?

Plus, they talk about the disastrous flooding in the Detroit-area caused by heavy rains and how it disproportionately affected people of color. What can be done to prevent this devastation in the future? And, the group offers their thoughts on the surprise announcement of Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s engagement to the woman who was the center of a controversy over preferential treatment from the Mayor for a prenatal health program she led.

Public relations and political consultants Karen Dumas and Greg Bowens, along with 910 AM Superstation host Kerry Leon Jackson and DRJC Equity and Justice director Brandon Brice join Stephen for a conversation you don’t want to miss.
