National Association of Black Journalists Town Hall Forum

  • NABJ “DIVERSITY IN THE D” TOWN HALL FORUM- Highlights from the National Association of Black Journalists’ town hall meeting on diversity and trust in the media. Stephen was a panelist, along with Marla Drutz (WDIV-TV 4), Karen Hudson Samuels (WGPR-TV 62 Historical Society), and Jayne Bower (SAG-AFTRA). The forum was moderated by Chuck Stokes of WXYZ-TV 7.
  • NABJ JOURNALISTS- One Detroit’s Will Glover asked journalists attending the NABJ Convention about the state of diversity in the media today. We get their thoughts on whether there has been progress or if newsrooms are still lacking diverse voices.
  • MEDIA & MINORITIES- One Detroit’s Bill Kubota produced this report looking at the number of minorities in local media today, especially in decision-making roles. We hear from longtime African-American journalists about what has changed since the 1968 Kerner Commission Report’s recommendation to train and hire more Black journalists and increase media coverage of the Black community and racial issues.
