On the next American Black Journal, we’ll continue our yearlong series on The Black Church in Detroit with a look a the diverse denominations in the African American Church and Detroit’s long history of pastors who have risen to international or national leadership roles in their religious communities.

Stephen Henderson talks with Rev. Cindy Rudolph, the first female senior pastor of Oak Grove AME Church, and Rev. Dr. Tony Curtis Henderson, Associate Professor of Practical Theology at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary. They’ll examine the origins and history of the largest denominations, along with the differences and similarities in their beliefs.

Plus, Orlando Bailey of BridgeDetroit talks with Bishop Charles Ellis III of Greater Grace Temple about his former role as Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and about Detroit’s significant influence in numerous denominations.
