One Detroit – Detroit Ballot Proposals / A Conversation on Racial Equality / Creating Quality Workplaces

 Tonight on One Detroit:

Next Tuesday, Detroiters will decide the mayoral and city council races. They’ll also get to approve or reject 3 ballot proposals that involve decriminalizing psychedelics, the creation of a reparations committee, and having more citizen input on how the city’s budget gets spent. One Detroit contributors Stephen Henderson from American Black Journal and Nolan Finley from The Detroit News weigh in.

This summer, Micah Martin, a senior at L’Anse Creuse High School, was chosen to be a PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs Gwen Ifill Legacy Fellow for 2021. As part of her fellowship, she completed an internship with Detroit PBS’s One Detroit team, and working with us, produced an engaging multi-part conversation on racial inequality.

  • Future of Work: What It Takes to Create Quality Workplaces and Attract Workers

Our coverage on the Future of Work continues–One Detroit’s Will Glover spoke with President and CEO of the Corporation for a Skilled Workforce, Larry Good, about how workplaces can attract workers, and how workers can navigate a job landscape where employers care less about your previous job title and more about taking stock of your transferable skills.
