One Detroit Weekend | Things to do around Detroit this weekend: March 7, 2025

It’s the first weekend of March, and there are plenty of fun events, activities and performances happening in and around metro Detroit. Check out a fundraiser that invites participants to use all five senses and a bourbon festival that will feature more than 100 spirits to sample. Plus, don’t miss theater productions of “Peter Pan” the musical, Tony Award-winning musical “Kimberly Akimbo,” and 2023 Pulitzer Prize winner “English.” One Detroit contributor Cecelia Sharpe of 90.9 WRCJ shares some events to look forward to this weekend.

Upcoming Events:  

  • The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum hosts PLAY, a 21+ fundraiser for Access for All, on March 8. The event features the second annual Lucky Ducky Dash, local food and drink and a chance to explore the five senses.  
  • The sixth annual Lansing Bourbon Fest takes place at The Venue in Lansing on March 8. The festival features more than 100 bourbons and whiskeys along with food vendors, live music and more. 
  • The Shamrock Tenors perform at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on March 8. The concert is part of the group’s initial U.S. tour. 
  • Tree Town Comedy in Ann Arbor hosts the Tree Town Comedy Festival through March 8. The stand-up comedy show features national headliners as well as local Michigan comedians.  
  • The Village Theatre at Cherry Hill in Canton presents a production of “The PROM School Edition” through March 9. The musical was awarded the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical. 
  • A new adaptation of “Peter Pan” the musical comes to the Fox Theatre in Detroit March 11-16. The musical is written by playwright Larissa FastHorse, directed by Emmy Award winner Lonny Price and choreographed by Lorin Latarro. 
  • Broadway in Detroit presents the Tony Award-winning musical “Kimberly Akimbo” at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit March 11-23. The play explores themes of growing up, family dysfunction, first crushes and more.  
  • The Pulitzer Prize-winning play “English” comes to the Tipping Point Theatre in Northville March 12–April 6. The drama takes audience members into an Iranian classroom for adult English learners and explores how learning English impacts each of the students’ lives.
