PBS Newshour: John McCain, Arizona Republican, two-time presidential candidate and decorated Navy vet, dies at 81

Amy Huschka from The Detroit Free Press gathered reactions from several Michigan lawmakers and politicians on Senator John McCain’s passing over the weekend. Many from both sides of the political aisle paid their respects online to McCain, whose legacy includes his military service and as a public servant in a career that spanned over 60 years.

PBS Newshour recently ran a retrospective on McCain’s legacy:

FRONTLINE also explored Sen. John McCain’s complicated relationship with his own Republican Party and President Trump. Tracing the Arizona senator’s life and politics, FRONTLINE examined how the GOP has evolved over his political career, and the role he’s had in that evolution.

This special airs tonight at 11 PM on Detroit Public Television and is also available online.
