The Push for Police Reform in Michigan

The murder of George Floyd in May of 2020 sparked protests across the country and heightened the demand for police reform.

30 states have passed some kind of reform legislation. Michigan is one of 17 states with police reform bills still currently pending.

 One Detroit’s Will Glover looked at what’s in the police reform bills pending in the Michigan Senate and spoke to 2 of the senators sponsoring the bills about how the legislation is intended to work together. He also spoke to residents who’ve had previous interactions with the police to see if they have faith in what these policies can do.
