Things to do around Detroit this weekend: January 10, 2024
It’s a new year with new events around town and some that are making their return like the Detroit Auto Show, the 11th annual Detroit Pistons Cornhole Tournament, the Fire and Ice Festival and more. Plus, catch a performance of Harry Potter in concert and Charlie Beren’s Good Old Fashioned Tour or head over to the Ultimate Fishing Show. Metro Detroit has plenty to offer this weekend. See what’s coming up in the list below.
Upcoming Events:
- The Ultimate Fishing Show comes to Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi through Jan. 12. It features hundreds of vendors and bait unique to Michigan this time of year.
- The Fire and Ice Festival takes place at Robert C. Valade Park in Detroit Jan. 10-12 featuring food, games, and a giant bonfire that will be lit at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11.
- The Redford Theatre in Detroit hosts the Psycho Hitchcock Weekend Jan 10-11, where the theatre will be playing the 1960s Alfred Hitchcock classic “Psycho” on the big screen.
- The Detroit Pistons are hosting its 11th annual cornhole tournament at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Jan. 11. Tournament entry includes a minimum of two games played, a Pistons cornhole T-shirt, and tickets to the Detroit Pistons vs. Toronto Raptors game that evening.
- Comedian, New York Times best-selling author, Emmy-winning journalist and musician Charlie Berens brings his Good Old Fashioned Tour to the Royal Oak Music Theatre on Jan. 11.
- The Detroit Auto Show returns to Huntington Place Jan. 11-20, featuring more than 20 attractions, events and shows that highlight the auto industry and how technology is evolving.
- The Detroit Symphony Orchestra presents Harry Potter in Concert Jan. 11-12, where Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will be shown while a live orchestra plays along to the movie’s score.
- The Flint Under the Stars concert series presents two jam bands, The Outfit and Leroy, at the Capitol Theatre on Jan. 15. Admission is $10 for entry.
