Things to do around Detroit this weekend: November 28, 2024

The holidays are in full swing in and around Detroit this weekend with Wild Lights at the Zoo, Detroit Public Theatre’s Holiday Cabaret and a Christmas Bakery Bus Tour hosted by Distinctively Detroit. Plus, Candlelight Concerts hosts a tribute to the pop artist Beyonce, Blippi brings his Join the Band Tour to the Fisher Theatre and the rink at Campus Martius has opened for the season. See what else is coming up around the region on “One Detroit Weekend.” 

Upcoming Events: 

  • The Rink at Campus Martius in downtown Detroit is officially open for ice skating during the holiday season through March 2, 2025. 
  • The Detroit Zoo’s annual “Wild Lights at the Zoo” returns through Jan. 5, 2025. The event transforms the animal kingdom into a winter wonderland with holiday lights, hot chocolate and more. 
  • Detroit Public Theatre presents its 2nd annual Holiday Cabaret, a night of uplifting holiday music, Nov. 29 – Dec. 22.  
  • Candlelight Concerts presents “A Tribute to Beyonce” at Christ Church Detroit on Nov. 30. The night will feature music from the pop artist’s discography performed by the Listeso String Quartet. 
  • Dr. Suess’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical” will be performed at The Fox Theatre in Detroit through Dec. 1.  
  • Blippi – Join the Band Tour takes place at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit on Nov. 30. The performance invites attendees to explore what makes music, from sounds to rhythms and instruments. 
  • Distinctively Detroit hosts the Christmas Bakery Bus Tour, where attendees can visit five local businesses and learn about diverse ethnic holiday traditions. The Dec. 4 tour departs from the Fisher Building. 
  • Canterbury Village in Lake Orion hosts a holiday stroll Nov. 29 featuring a visit with Santa Claus, choreographed musical light shows, carolers, timeless holiday characters and more.
