Things to do around Detroit this weekend: September 6, 2024

Festivals, festivals, festivals — from the BRED Hip-Hop Theatre Festival and the Trenton Art Festival to the Plymouth Fall Festival and the Old Car Festival, there’s plenty to do this weekend.

There’s also an event at the Royal Oak Farmers Market that supports multiple sclerosis and an outdoor writing event with InsideOut Literary Arts. Contributor Cecelia Sharpe of 90.9 WRCJ shares some events coming up around town this weekend.

Upcoming Events:

  • The Royal Oak Farmers Market will host its Taste of Generosity event Sept. 6 in support of the National MS Society. The event includes Michigan-made goods, kids’ activities and education about multiple sclerosis.
  • The 59th annual Art & Apple Festival returns Sept. 6-8 at Rochester Municipal Park, featuring more than 200 artists displaying their work and a kids’ art zone and creation station.
  • The Plymouth Fall Festival takes place in downtown Plymouth from Sept. 6-8. It features pet, car and craft shows, bingo, a carnival and more.
  • Wayne State University’s Hilberry Gateway Theatre hosts the Beats Rhymes Everything Detroit Hip-Hop Theatre Festival on Sept. 7. The event celebrates the stories told through hip hop both on and off stage.
