Things to do in Detroit this weekend: November 8, 2024
Veterans Day is right around the corner, and so is the annual Detroit Veterans Day Parade in Corktown. Plus, Motor City Comic Con returns to Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.
For those into theater and the arts, the weekend brings the World Ballet Company to the Flagstar Strand Theatre in Pontiac for “Swan Lake.” Plus, you can attend “Into the Woods” at Wayne State University, the 6th annual Cabaret for a Cause in Canton and more.

- Motor City Comic Con returns to metro Detroit Nov. 8-10 at Suburban Collection Showplace and includes meet and greets, video game contests and more.
- The College for Creative Studies Valade Family Gallery in Detroit presents Fiber Flux: Midwest Educators in Textiles, Fiber Art, and Material Studies Nov. 8 – Dec. 14.
- The World Ballet Company brings the iconic ballet “Swan Lake” at the Flagstar Strand Theatre in Pontiac on Nov. 8.
- The Encore Musical Theatre Company in Ann Arbor presents “Broadway, Old Fashioned” with Broadway Star Chelsea Packard on Nov. 9.
- The Detroit Veterans Day Parade takes place on Nov. 10 along Trumbell Street in Corktown. The 4Star 4Mile Race is held in tandem with the parade.
- Wayne State University’s Hilberry Gateway theater presents a production of “Into the Woods” through Nov. 10.
- Actors from the TV series “Shorsey” are bringing the Shorsey Fall Classic hockey games to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Nov. 11. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local charities.
- The Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton presents the 6th annual Cabaret for a Cause on Nov. 13, an event that takes attendees on a musical tour across America. The event benefits the American Cancer Society.
