Stephen Henderson is a native Detroiter who has more than 30 years of journalism experience as a writer and editor, and a deep-rooted connection with the city that birthed him.
A winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Henderson has also won more than two dozen other national awards for writing and editing. He was honored in 2014 as Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and University of Detroit Jesuit High School.
Henderson is a founder of BridgeDetroit, a non-profit news organization that prioritizes issues that Detroiters themselves identify as critical. He is also the founder of The Tuxedo Project, a literary arts and community center located in Henderson’s childhood home.
He hosts the daily radio show “Created Equal” on WDET 101.9FM, Detroit’s public radio station, and is involved in two weekly shows on Detroit PBS. Henderson is the host of “American Black Journal” and regularly contributes to “One Detroit.”

Trudy Gallant-Stokes has decades of experience in all aspects of the media. She has worked as a radio reporter, television reporter and anchor in Michigan and Ohio. Gallant-Stokes has hosted "Detroit Black Journal," which is now “American Black Journal,” and currently is a guest host of the show. She’s also hosted “Video Detroit” and produced several award-winning documentaries for Detroit PBS.
Gallant-Stokes has also served as the Detroit Correspondent for "BET News" on the national cable station BET (Black Entertainment Television) and for “World Business Review” on PBS.
More recently, she has been president of her production company, Gallant-Stokes Productions. It has created videos for a wide variety of corporate and nonprofit clients. She is an honors graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in telecommunications.

Trudy Gallant-Stokes

In addition to producing “One Detroit,” Daphne Hughes is the producer of Detroit PBS’ “American Black Journal,” the longest running locally produced television series focusing on the African American experience. Hughes was a former news manager at Detroit’s NBC affiliate, WDIV-TV. She has produced several award-winning television newscasts and programs, including shows for The Skillman Foundation and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, as well as the internationally broadcast “The Dr. Nandi Show.”
Hughes served as senior writer and media services producer in the administrations of Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and former Mayor Dave Bing. She worked as a senior communications consultant at Mort Crim Communications, Inc. (now known as “Crimson”) and is the former Director of Communications and Marketing at Marygrove College in Detroit.
A native Detroiter, Hughes earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies from the University of Detroit after graduating from Detroit’s Chadsey High School.
She is a member of the WGPR-TV 62 Historical Society and has served as secretary and a fund development committee member on the Board of Directors for Matrix Theatre Company in Southwest Detroit. She is a past president of the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences.

Daphne Hughes

Ed Moore is the vice president of content at Detroit PBS. Winner of the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University award, numerous Emmys, and other awards, Ed began his career in documentary filmmaking after graduating from the University of Michigan with a Master of Arts degree. For those who remember cable TV, Moore produced for nearly every network including the Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, MTV, ABC Sports and World News Tonight, CBS Sports, PBS NewsHour, and NBC Nightly News.
Moore joined Detroit PBS in 2009, spearheading its journalism and energy &amp; environment initiatives in One Detroit and Great Lakes Now respectively. Moving his team to the Detroit Historical Museum, Moore pioneered the engagement-to-content model that Detroit PBS uses today — getting face-to-face with community leaders, stakeholders, and neighborhood residents — and using their feedback to guide content. From this model, Detroit PBS’ local content has included sustained coverage of racial injustice, environmental justice, police reform, neighborhood and community rebuilding, workforce equity and development and more.
In addition to his current duties, Moore has reformatted its flagship arts and culture offering, Detroit Performs into a live performance program produced at the Marygrove Theatre to connect performers and organizations to Detroit PBS’ vast audience. Since relaunching Detroit Performs in 2021, Moore led collaborations with the Detroit Public Theatre, the Detroit Opera, and many other important arts and cultural organizations. As leader of Detroit PBS’ arts &amp; culture initiative, Moore also leads Detroit’s only classical and jazz radio station, 90.9 WRCJ.

Zosette Guir oversees content operations and production for Detroit PBS’ award-winning news and public affairs programs, “One Detroit” and “American Black Journal.” She is a second-generation Filipina American who believes in storytelling that reflects people’s daily lived experiences.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in communications studies from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Zosette worked on various production projects in the metro Detroit area, including Autoweek’s Vinsetta Garage, the Ernst &amp; Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for Crain’s Detroit Business, “Detroit Performs,” “Great Lakes Now: Connect,” and “The Seven Generation River.” After joining Detroit PBS’ national documentary unit in 2014, she worked on nationally distributed PBS documentaries such as “When I’m 65” and “Ride the Tiger.”
She then became managing producer for Detroit PBS’ One Detroit, a news and public affairs program grounded in immersive community engagement. In her current position, she works with producers across the station’s local news and public affairs programs and leads its Asian American and Pacific Islander Advisory Committee comprised of community stakeholders within southeast Michigan.
Her work has been honored with awards by the Society of Professional Journalists Detroit Chapter, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Michigan Emmys. She currently serves as the governing board representative for the Michigan Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association.

Zosette Guir

Elisha Anderson joined Detroit PBS as managing editor of journalism in 2023. She oversees journalism operations, works closely with the teams producing “One Detroit” and “American Black Journal” and fosters news and community partnerships.
Before joining the station, Anderson spent 16 years at the Detroit Free Press in various roles, including investigative reporter, court reporter and broadcast editor. She also worked at TV stations in Iowa — WHO in Des Moines and KWWL in Waterloo.
Over her career, Anderson has covered many high-profile cases such as the Oxford High School shooting, Grosse Pointe Park businessman Bob Bashara’s murder trial, scandals surrounding former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the Flint water crisis. Her stories have appeared in publications across the country, exposed flaws in the criminal justice system and contributed to innocent men being freed from prison.
Anderson's work has been honored with dozens of awards, including the Jim Dwyer Award for Journalism for wrongful conviction coverage, Wade McCree Advancement of Justice Awards, the First Amendment Award from Michigan Associated Press Media Editors and Emmys.

Elisha Anderson

Fueled by a desire to blend her passion for communication and the visual arts, Andrea Riley attended the University of Michigan, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in film and video studies. Post-college, she gained hands-on experience as a creative services intern at CBS, which ignited her love for the broadcast television industry.
She went on to hone her skills as the lead video editor at Midwest Video Company where she edited a diverse array of projects for over a decade, serving automotive clients, market researchers and small businesses. When Midwest Video closed, Riley sought to align her career with her deep-seated interests in the arts, education and social justice. This led her to Detroit PBS, where she's thrilled to contribute her talents and enthusiasm.
In addition to her role at Detroit PBS, Riley is a film critic for The Movie Sleuth and has been featured on NPR's “Stateside,” offering her insights on a range of film-related topics. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys working out, exploring new destinations and spending time with her friends.

Andrea Riley

Bill Allesee began his professional video editing career in 1986, back when editing was done on tape machines and required sending video to clients on VHS. For Allesee, editing is both a classroom and a playground. Every day it brings new challenges whether in software, workflows or collaborations with clients and co-workers.
Since 2019, Allesee has been a full-time video editor at Detroit PBS, contributing to national productions, promotions and local shows such as “American Black Journal” and “Great Lakes Now.” Throughout his career, he has earned multiple awards from the Detroit Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Michigan Emmys, reflecting his dedication to the craft.
With decades of experience and a passion that hasn’t dimmed, Allesee still enjoys going to work every day and embracing the thrill of creating television. When he is not making TV, he is making music as the lead guitar player in the band Jack's Revenge.

Jonathan Shead is the Digital Content Generalist for Detroit PBS’ award-winning news programs “One Detroit” and “American Black Journal,” managing each program’s websites, social media presence and marketing responsibilities.
Within his role, Shead has spearheaded the launch of new websites for both programs and has created engaging social media campaigns for One Detroit’s “One Detroit Weekend” and “Truly Detroit” series. He also created the “Friday Five,” a weekly roundup of news from “One Detroit” and “American Black Journal.”
Shead has produced stories on the <a href="https://www.detroitpbs.org/news-media/one-detroit/detroit-peoples-food-co-op-opening-broadens-access-to-healthy-foods-in-the-citys-north-end/">Detroit People’s Food Co-op</a> grocery store and “America’s Test Kitchen” Chef Elle Simone Scott’s <a href="https://www.detroitpbs.org/news-media/one-detroit/americas-test-kitchen-elle-simone-scott-food-gifts-cookbook-tour-detroit/">cookbook “Food Gifts,”</a> as well as mobile features on the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C6XQa2ktMrT/">2024 NFL Draft</a> and the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Ct4nUrhreZd/">60th anniversary of The Walk to Freedom in Detroit</a>.
In 2023, Shead earned 2nd place in the category “Broadcast: General News Reporting” from the Detroit Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for his work on Detroit PBS’ Future of Work coverage. In 2022, he earned a Michigan Association of Broadcasters BEST “Continuing Coverage” Award for his support of the <a href="https://www.detroitpbs.org/shows/one-detroit/features/future-of-work/">Future of Work town hall series</a>.
Before joining Detroit PBS in 2021, Shead was a reporter for C&amp;G Newspapers covering topics such as government, education, arts and culture, and business in Farmington, Farmington Hills, Southfield, Novi, and Troy.

Daijah Moss is a multifaceted individual with a passion for producing stories. The Oakland University graduate and Detroit native embarked on her journey in the world of production with an internship at Detroit PBS in 2021. Through this internship working with “One Detroit,” Moss was able to hone her skills and explore her eagerness for storytelling. She is now a contributor for “One Detroit” and “American Black Journal.”
